Christchurch Earthquake.
Tuesday, February 22, 2011 @ 11:14 PM
Another earthquake hit Christchurch today. There have been 65 confirmed deaths, but they're expecting 200 - 400. This is terrible. I've been shocked since I heard about it today. I was standing at work with the new guy, Hamish and a customer actually told him about it, about five minutes after it happened. She knew so soon because she has a call centre down there and it's down. My brothers and Mum used to live in Christchurch, in Linwood. Apparently Linwood has been hit really hard, I expected that because it's so close to the city and the city centre looks completely destroyed. I've been close to tears, I've been watching it on the news since I came home from work. Things like this just don't happen here in New Zealand it's crazy. It's surreal. I don't know anyone down there but my heart goes out to them.
I wanted to donate blood but they said I couldn't because I've had a tattoo within the last 6 months. But the NZ blood site says it doesn't need any blood.
Won't be any of my photos today, but I'll post some I found online of the disaster
When I was watching the news tonight, a lady who was inside this collapsed building called in to tell everyone what it's like. I started crying when she said that she'd called her children to say goodbye :(
At least I can say that I'm lucky to have been to Christchurch and seen it with my own two eyes. This is my Mum's and brother's old house
This is my mum's old house. Apparently where she lived (Linwood) was hit severely. I expected it to have been, since it's quite close to town. It makes me really sad.
